Urgent Call for Volunteers: “Fix Greven Field Day”

Help to restore Greven Field with the Red Sox Foundation. On Saturday, September 8th the Red Sox Foundation is coming to Cavendish to help finish repairs to our Greven baseball fields. The Red Sox Foundation, the official charitable arm of the Boston Red Sox, has chosen our Greven Field to be one of the beneficiaries of their generous "100 Acts of Kindness" program. On Saturday, September 8th, starting at 9:30 am, the foundation will organize, manage, and fund a "Fix the Field Day." A group of 30 volunteers is needed. Greven organizers stress that they must have these 30 volunteers in order for the Red Sox Foundation to proceed on this day of work. Painting, infield work, and fencing are among the projects that will be worked on. Some repairs to Greven Field were made this summer, but there is still plenty to do! The foundation is offering a free catered lunch to all volunteers, which will be provided by Singleton's Store. This is an amazing opportunity to work alongside one of the most generous organizations in the sports world and should be a fun day for the community.

If you'd like to volunteer or find out more, please contact Marion Brody at 484-5302.

Did you know that in addition to the two ball fields, a volleyball court and hiking trail are being built? And just wait until your children see the new playground structure that was donated and recently installed. Plans for a horseshoe pit and basketball court are in the works, too, making Greven a Recreation Area for all ages to enjoy. Come join us Saturday and see for yourself!
