1. ELECTION RESULTS
Out of 1,030 registered Cavendish voters, 680 voted (66%), with approximately 100 voted by absentee ballot. In the results below, an asterisk before the candidates name indicates they are the overall winner

2. CAVENDISH RELATED NEWS
Proctorsville Fire Dept’s New Tanker Arrives Nov. 9: The new fire tanker for the Proctorsville Fire Dept. will arrive on Friday, Nov. 9 at approximately 4 pm. Stop by the fire house to see the new truck.

Illegal Dumping in Cavendish: On 110812 at approximately 11:07 am,  State Police in Rockingham received a report of a truck that just dumped a load of roofing shingles on Oscarson Road in Cavendish, near the junction of Tarbell Hill Road. The vehicle that dumped the shingles is a red one ton truck with a black dump body and wooden rails that extend approximately one foot above the dump body, that are also painted black. The State Police are working with the Agency of Natural Resources investigating the incident. Anyone with any information about the vehicle involved is asked to call the State Police in Rockingham, 802-875-2112.

Shaws to Lay off Employees: 700 Shaw's Supermarket employees will lose their jobs in the coming days. Every single store will feel an impact. President of Shaw's, Mike Stigers, released this statement. "A decision of this nature is never easy, but after careful evaluation, it is unfortunately the necessary step for us to take to help improve our business, reduce expenses and reinvest in more customer-facing initiatives." 3. LOCAL PLACES TO DONATE FOR SANDY RELIEF
As the Ludlow Rotary noted We know many whom are affected in New York, Connecticut and New Jersey that have second homes here and are our neighbors and friends. Many Rotary clubs throughout the nation and even from across the world helped VT & NH after Tropical Storm Irene last summer. Now we want to help those in need and pay it forward. Let’s show them their Vermont communities want to help their hometowns in their time of need!   

Various groups and people are organizing relief efforts to help those most impacted by Sandy. Items being collected include the following:
• Clothing, including underwear, socks, warm clothes (sweat pants, sweatshirts, sweaters, fleece etc).
• Blankets, towels and bed linens.
• Cleaning supplies (don’t forget masks and gloves)
• Non-electric Toys for kids
• Batteries (all sizes)
• Flashlights
• Gas cans
• Non-perishable foods
• Grooming supplies

Please only donate items that are new or gently used. Do not send things that are torn or damaged. Be sure to check canned goods and dry goods products for expiration dates. No dented cans please.

The Rotary is collecting items until November 23 (Friday) and Angela Biathrow angela.davis@pvc2.com is leaving on November 16 (Friday). Please note that Country Girl Diner in Chester has very limited space and has requested that Cavendish use the donation centers for Rotary.

The Rotary has the following collection points:
• Benson’s Chevrolet
• Fletcher Memorial Library
• Ludlow Insurance Agency.
You can also send a check to Ludlow Area Rotary Charitable Fund - a  501 (c) 3  corporation and mail it to P.O.Box 216  Ludlow, VT 05149-0216 before 11-23-12.

Golden Stage Inn is accepting donations for Rotary and Angela. You can put items on the porch of the Inn. There will be signs to help you with that.

4.BRGN STUFF A BUS 
Before we know it the holiday season will be upon us.   It is a time of year that marks significant need in our communities.  This is a very busy time for Black River Good Neighbor Services, as this non-profit local organization prepares to deliver gifts and a full holiday dinner complete with turkeys and all the fixings to those in need.  It is estimated that over 160 families from the immediate and surrounding towns will be helped this holiday season

To help make this possible there is a planned “Stuff A Bus” on Saturday December 1st.  This important food drive will take place at the Shaw’s shopping center parking lot in Ludlow from 9am until 3pm.

The following items are the foods most needed:
Canned Fruit               Canned Cranberry Sauce               Pickles – Olives
Mac & Cheese             Hot Chocolate                                            Cookies
Tea                              Cereal (Oatmeal)                                Candy
Carrots/Peas                Gravy                                                  Stuffing
Margarine                    Corn                                                    Green Beans
Yams                           Coffee                                                 Frozen Turkeys

If you are not a shopper, donations of money are always needed and greatly appreciated.

There are many ways to get involved with this year’s efforts.  Volunteers are needed to sort food as it comes in and countless other tasks are required to make sure that everyone who needs help this winter gets it.  Please call Audrey at the Thrift Store, 228-3663 or visit 37B Main Street to ask how you can get involved.

5. CAVENDISH EVENTS 11/9-11/18
November 9 (Friday): Proctorsville part time residents Stan and Jane Hart will once again be featured in nine original comedy skits at the Ludlow Town Hall Auditorium-Look at it This Way”-at 7 pm. Free but donations help.
            • One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest at GMUHS, 7 pm in the auditorium. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for seniors/students and $15 family rate.

November 10 (Saturday): From 10-2pm, the Helping Hand Class of the Cavendish Baptist Church will be holding a Christmas lunch, bake and tag sale. Also for sale will Rada Cutlery and cookbooks. The lunch menu includes Goulash, Corn Bread, Hotdogs with Rolls, Egg Salad Sandwiches with Chips, Apple Crisp with ice cream, Coffee and donuts on sale at 10 AM.  FMI: 226-7724
