1. ROBBERY ON TARBELL HILL
A 16 foot black
equipment trailer with ramps on the back was stolen off of Tarbell Hill Rd in
Cavendish on Monday or Tuesday this week. If you have any information please

GMUHS VS Black River: The
GMUHS Booster Club, together with the Cavendish and Chester Recreation
Departments invite the Green Mountain/Black River communities to come and
support their varsity basketball teams on Saturday, January 25 (Saturday) at 5
p.m. (girls) and 7 p.m. (boys). Come watch some great local basketball, root
for the Chieftains (or Presidents) as they battle their local rivals the Black
River Presidents. Paid entry ($3 adults, $1 students) gets a raffle ticket for
great prizes. GMUHS will be honoring its 1000 point scorers in a ceremony
between games. Both games are at GMUHS in Chester. Vermont Journal
Goodman’s
American Pie is on the Move: Proctorsville residents Jess and Craig
Goodman, owners of American Pie in Ludlow, will be moving up the street from
their current location to Lamere Square. They will be closing their doors at
106 Main Street on April 1 and reopening May 1. Lots more seating, including
some outside porch space, as well as the availability of wine and beer. To see

VT Individual Income Tax Forms: The Vermont
Individual Income Tax Return Booklet for tax year 2013, which includes
instructions and commonly used forms, is now online www.tax.vermont.gov. All
other tax forms will be available online by Jan. 31. Taxpayers may order paper
copies of the booklet and forms by contacting the department by email or phone.
The booklet and forms will no longer be distributed through town offices, post
offices and libraries. Press Release
Free Tax Preparation: A number of eligible
taxpayers can take advantage of free tax preparation with programs through the
IRS-sponsored Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and Tax Counseling for the
Elderly (TCE) or the AARP Foundation Tax Aide. Information about this year’s
programs may be found on the department’s website or by calling (802) 828-2865 or toll-free in Vermont (866) 828-2865. Press

American Red Cross Issues New Pet First Aid App: Pets are an important
part of many families, and a new Red Cross Pet First Aid App puts lifesaving
information right in the hands of dog and cat owners so they can provide
emergency care until veterinary assistance is available. The 99 cent Pet First
Aid app gives iPhone and Android smart phone users instant access to expert
information so they learn how to maintain their pet’s health and what to do

• Be More Tech Savvy:
Parent’s Night (Monday, January 27): Black River School
is hosting a Parent Night. There will be sessions on teenage trends in social
media, tech tips for parents, internet addiction, and use of technology in the
classroom. This is similar to the program that was made available to
parents in the fall with some new and current additions. Thanks to the
Okemo Mountain Challenge Grant, we will be able to offer free dinner
at 5:15 p.m. in the Community Center. DJ's Restaurant will be
preparing stuffed shells, sausages, marinara sauce, salad, and dessert for our
enjoyment. Childcare will be provided and all attendees will have a chance to
win a gas card.
